Northern European gave Xander and Corne Spies their fifth winner for the season when storming clear to win her Maiden on the tricky straight 1400m at the Vaal.
She travelled beautifully behind the favourite before being produced at exactly the right moment, and once she found daylight, she powered away from the field – a brilliant performance under a masterful ride from Callan Murray.
Callan said: “The Spies team has done a good job with her. I like the way she kicked on extended.”
Xander commented: “What a nice race to watch and it looks like we’ve finally found her distance. Thanks to her owners for being patient. Hopefully she can pick up another win or two. It has been a wonderful start to the season, and we are very excited about the direction the stable is heading.
“We have now had a winner every single week since the new season began. We are going from strength to strength, and hopefully there is plenty more to come.”
Xander thanked everyone who continues to support Spies Racing, included staff and riders and loyal followers.
